Instructions for working with hand tools

  • In the case of all jobs that might possibly lead to overstressing of the tool, the appropriate preventive measures are to be taken (cover sharp edges with a cloth, wear safety glasses / goggles and work gloves, etc.).
  • We cannot accept any liability if screwdrivers are used for any purpose other than that for which they were intended, e.g. for levering, scraping, chiseling, etc. 

Safety_Wrench Instructions for working with hex keys L-wrenches
  • Hex keys L-wrenches are suitable for manual use. In the event of overstressing, the wrench will distort elastically and plastically. If the angle of rotation exceeds 30°, there exists a danger that the screw or the wrench will break. The screwing procedure is to be interrupted. If, in spite of this, angle of the rotation should be greater than 30°, appropriate preventive measures are to be taken against possible breaking (e.g. wearing gloves or wrapping a cloth around the point where it is likely to break).
  • Hex keys L-wrenches that appear distorted after overstressing (bent handle part or twisted key part), can have invisible microcracks. These could lead to the tool breaking suddenly at any point in time when it is in use again. For this reason, tools that remain deformed must be replaced immediately.
  • If a tube is used to increase the transmission force or if the wrench is struck with a hammer, we cannot accept any liability.

Safety_Hammer Instructions for working with striking tools
  • When trying to loosen a pin punch that is stuck do not hit it on the side with a hammer as it may break.
  • Centre punches with tungsten carbide tips must be held upright when striking them. If it is at an angle, the tip could be overstressed by the shear forces created and break off. The same applies if the tool is dropped inadvertently.
  • Blunt centre punches and chisels can be sharpened many times. When sharpening them, please ensure that they do not heat up to over 200 ºC, as the hardness will be reduced.

 ElectroTools
  • Take care when working with electrical current.
  • Insulated ElectroTools screwdrivers comply with the regulations according to IEC 60 900 for insulated tools for working with voltages of up to 1000 V AC/1500 V DC. This should not be regarded as an encouragement to carry out tasks on live appliances.

Safety_VDE Voltage tester
  • Hold the screwdriver blade on the current conductor and at the same time touch the end of the handle with your finger. Watch for earthing. If a voltage is present, the glow lamp built into the handle lights up.
  • The voltage indicator must be tested for correct operation shortly before use.
  • The voltage indicator must not be used when precipitation is present, e.g. condensation or rain. If the voltage indicator is damp, it must not be used.
  • The voltage indicator is only to be used for voltage testing and must not be used for other jobs on live equipment.

Safety_ESD ESD Screwdrivers
  • ESD tools conduct electrical must not be used for work on live equipment. They are distinguished from normal PB Swiss Tools screwdrivers for electronics work by a black rotating cap and a yellow inscription. Do not make contact with electric current sources!
